The Story:

The Vindictives formed sometime in the late 1980's. They are all from the Chicagoland Area. Their first release came in 1991, and was a self-titled 7" EP. They released it D.I.Y. on their own label V.M.L. Records. They went on to release five more 7" records under V.M.L. In late '93 early '94 Ben Weasel showed Lookout! Records a couple of the Vindictives' 7" records. Lookout! signed them and the Vindictives released two more 7"'s; as well as, a picture disk 7", and a double LP that combined their earlier efforts. In 1996 the Vindictives officially dis-banded, do to health problems Joey Vindictive had. Reportedly, he was kicking an addiction to Xanax. He was taking Xanax for a 15-year panic disorder he suffered from. During their reign they released two cover albums: Partytime For Assholes, and Leave Home. They also released one 5" with two Sex Pistols covers, and made it on to many compilation albums. In 1997 they resurfaced with a split 7" starring them, and Sloppy seconds. They began working on a new album in '98 which was released in late 1999. 1999 has marked an important year for the Vindictives. They are once again in full force as a band, their new album, HYPNO-PUNKOtm, is a landmark in music recording, and they are already hard at work on another album set to come out in early 2000. That is the most complete story I can give you on the Vindictives.
